Bearing Steel Bar

Bearing steel bar is used to produce rings, rollers and other parts that carry repeated contact loads. Buyers need material that can develop a hard, wear-resistant surface while supporting reliable service over many operating cycles.

For bearing manufacturers, consistent quality matters across the batch. Internal defects or uneven material can lead to early failure, even when the finished dimensions are correct. Grade, delivery condition and required inspection therefore belong in the purchasing specification.

Dexter Steel can cut blanks against your production requirements. Annealed material commonly supports machining before hardening. Suitable blank dimensions reduce removal work while leaving enough material for heat treatment and final grinding.

More Details

Dexter Steel can quote bearing steel bars in full lengths or cut pieces. The size should suit the part you will make and leave enough material for finishing.

Solid bar can work well for rollers and small bearing rings. For a large ring, removing the centre creates more scrap. A hollow blank or ring forging may save material and machining time.

Send us the part drawing and quantity. We can review the bar size and cutting requirements.

Surface and Size Requirements

The bar surface affects how much steel your workshop needs to remove. If you will machine the whole outside, the blank needs enough extra material to clean up that surface.

DetailWhat to confirm
DiameterStarting size and allowed size variation
SurfaceAs-rolled, peeled or ground, as required
StraightnessRequired limit for longer bars or machine feeding
Cut lengthExtra length needed for facing the ends

Closer sizes can save machining. They are worth paying for where your process can use them.

Cut Pieces and Material Records

We can quote cutting to agreed lengths. This can save saw work in your shop and make batch production easier to arrange.

If your order requires material certificates, include that in the enquiry. Cut pieces may also need batch marks or separate packing to keep them linked to the correct records.

For repeat orders, keeping the same size, surface and supply condition helps your workshop use the same machine settings.
